From the producer of Downfall comes an explosive film about one of the most notorious terrorist groups of our time. Germany in the 1970s murderous bomb attacks and the fear of the enemy inside are rocking the very foundations of the fragile German Democracy. The Baader Meinhof Complex explores the true story of the rise and fall of a left wing terrorist organisation started by radicalised children of the Nazi generation. Known as the Baader Meinhoff Group and led by the charismatic leaders Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin, their aim was to battle Western imperialism in the name of democracy, no matter the cost to themselves or innocent civilians..

Very interesting historico-political film with a terrific ensemble performance. Great camera work is a feature and the presentation of various interpretations of the Red Army Faction motivations is great.

Superb first act. With simple scenes the movie manages to introduce you to a very complex plot and historic context even if you had no previous knowledge of what was going on in Germany at the time. As the movie progresses we focus on a handful of characters and not the large scale of events. This is where the movie lost a few points for me, it was hard to understand some of he decisions they made and this makes it hard to relate to them. But it is still an great movie, very well made with great performances.

Well made and acted. You will enjoy it if you have an interest in the politics of the time and know a little of the events like the first plane hi-jacking etc. Hard to either sympathise or not with the characters, you just observe them. Really like the relationship to current events and how ordinary people can become radicalised. Must see if you have an interest in these things, if you want just action thriller get something from Hollywood.
