Actor: David Mitchell

When Yuri Gagarin was blasted into space he became the first human to get a proper look at where we live. The Earth is blue he exclaimed, how amazing! Suddenly our perspective on the world had changed forever. We thought we were going to explore the universe, yet the most extraordinary thing we discovered was our own home planet, the Earth. So what would you see during just one orbit of the earth? Starting 200 miles above the planet, this film will whisk you around the world to show what happens in the time it takes to circumnavigate the earth once. We will see the miraculous ways in which the natural world is changing, we will marvel at the bizarre, amazing and downright ridiculous ways we humans are affecting our world. We'll visit the wettest place in the world, and the most volcanic. We'll discover how many people are born, how much our children are learning at school and how much wider the oceans will become. Narrated by David Mitchell this is a funny, shocking and moving trip around the planet that will make you view our home as you've never seen it before.

Narrated by David Mitchell in a style reminiscent of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, the uniquely English sardonic style of this doco gives a slightly off-worlder's perspective on the silly and serious aspects of human existence aboard 'the best piece of real estate in the solar system'. Lots of numbers and statistics to take in. Only wish the image quality was up to the standard Blu-ray make you accustomed to. Highly recommended viewing. 4 stars.
