French film with English subtitles; starring young Monica Bellucci. Indeed, quite an intricate plot (especially in the second half of the movie) that is woven into a pattern of past and present segments with a hard-to-guess ending. I give it only 3 stars because to my taste there were TOO MANY twists and turns in the plot, TOO MANY surprises and flashbacks, etc. Not only hard to follow but also after a while you simply do not care, every minute a new twist or turn, a "comedy or errors" (but not a real comedy, just a complex love story). Still, if you like Monica's looks and romantic stories then you are likely to enjoy it ...

Very good French cinema. Kept my interest throughout and felt I actually was in Paris. Lots of twists and turns. Difficult to believe but very believable, the extent of obsession.

That is without doubt one of the best movies I have ever seen. Excellently portrayed characters, all with their flaws. Love and obsession, where do we draw the line, and how far do we take our obsession? And how does it affect others, even those we love. I could go on................

Great French movie. Good plot twists, suspenseful and intriguing. A stylish look at Love, Loss and missed moments - that turn on twists of fate. One of world cinema's classic films.

A young executive, while waiting to make a call near a phone booth in a cafe, overhears a woman breaking-up with her boyfriend in a voice that sounds familiar, but just misses seeing her as she burst out and runs into the street. Realizing that she is a past lover and feeling dejected, he goes into the booth and while lifting up a phone directory finds the key to a hotel room. He lets himself in the room and discovers she has already left with the bill unpaid, the reason she still had the key. He starts on a frantic chase to find her. There are flashbacks to the time when he first got to know her and became her lover. He wasn't to know then that there was another woman attracted to him. A wonderfully intricate plot that is woven into a pattern of past and present segments with a totally unforeseen ending that is, for one of the characters, devastating. A brilliant movie.

Passion, style, intriguing serendipity, a good cast, Monica Bellucci has such charisma on screen, Romane Bohringer especially exciting and very versatile - so many nuances and an impressive actress.

Very stylish and involving movie - all that you watch French Cinema for in fact. Worth a few viewings to pick up all the nuances of the plot; the conflicting subtleties of the characters as the director manipulates your sympathies for them throughout. One flaw is the somewhat abrupt and unconvincing ending, which disappoints somewhat.

Complex; changing constantly between past and present. Requires great concentration but well worth it. Loved all the characters.

A typical classy French drama, "un petit peux noir". with great actors and a twisted story line that keeps you hooked all the way.

This is my favourite film and it was just as good on DVD as big screen. It's beautiful, very involving and ultimately quite ruthless. A classic French film. Vincent Cassel is fantastic as Max and real-life wife Monica Belucci (the most beautiful woman in the world??) adds a lot of class. Put this on your queue NOW!!
