Now in her twenties, Anne returns to Avonlea for the first time since Marilla Cuthbert's death. Gilbert has offered a position in a hospital in New York, and he persuades Anne to come with him.

He arranges a position for her at a large publishing house. Big city life isn't what they expected. Anne's manuscript is stolen by a dashing American writer, Jack Garrison.

Thus the stage is set for a final three hour installment in the Anne of Green Gables story which follows the characters from New York, the war effort in Europe and eventually returns them to the red earth of Prince Edward Island.

Continuation of a classic story that I loved as a teenager. I just wanted to complete the series. It still holds appeal

I really enjoyed this movie even though it departed significantly from the books. It was not based on any novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The movie was essentially Anne and Gilbert meet WWI, and was a study in how they adapt from their relatively idyllic childhood/adolescence in Avonlea to the horrors of war. It also shows how much they've developed as people and how enduring their romance is. There are some really touching and beautiful scenes. I guess they could have made the film about how Anne and Gilbert went off and had six children, but that probably wouldn't have been as interesting a storyline as the one depicted in the movie. Gilbert is as charming as ever in this instalment - which is reason enough to see this movie!

I was disappointed in this movie as it didn't follow the Anne stories I grew up with as I had expected. I found the story a bit hard to follow too.

Inspirational and emotional... Another great example of how dreams do come true with enough belief in ourselves, circumstances seem to line up and the universe works on our behalf although at times it may look like all is about to fail until out of what seems like nowhere, everything falls into place. A great family movie :-)

Kevin Sullivan is obviously cashing in on the "Anne" franchise. This would have been a great story on it's own - it didn't need the confusion engendered. If you are looking for something true to the novels, forget this little piece!

Absolute rubbish. There wasn't one scrap of story from the original books in the entire movie! They shouldn't have been allowed to put Anne's name on this movie, it had absolutely nothing to do with the original books. If you loved the first two movies, DON'T watch this one, you'll regret it.
