Armed robber Pope Cody (Ben Mendelsohn) is in hiding, on the run from a gang of renegade detectives who want him dead. His business partner and best friend, Barry "Baz" Brown (Joel Edgerton), wants out of the game, recognising that their days of old-school banditry are all but over. Pope's younger brother, the speed-addicted and volatile Craig Cody (Sullivan Stapleton), is making a fortune in the illicit substances trade - the true cash cow of the modern criminal fraternity - whilst the youngest Cody brother, Darren (Luke Ford), naively navigates his way through this criminal world - the only world his family has ever known.

A very good movie... but it moved a bit slow
Excellent acting.. the emotions were very realistic and believable...
The ending was a surprising twist...

An excellent showcase for Aussie cinema. Casting, performances (especially by the main young character), cinematography all more than solid.
A great, only partially resolved tale, oriented around a layer of society that can sometimes be over-dramatized, even idolised.
The score was magnificent - I'll likely chase it down to buy on CD.

I really don't see what the fuss about this is ... it was okay - not wonderful. Yes the acting was good. Yes it was a good story - but it was pretty much "underbelly'" all over again.

the last 20 minutes really set this apart and James Frecheville is spot on as the rookie in a gang of crims

This is a great movie. It has a loud ring of authenticity about it. Much more believable than the average American gangster movie. Full of suspense from start to finish. Great characterisations and excellent acting.

Perfect! Great story with substance and brilliant actors. From start to finish, the tension builds and builds and never lets up. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
