Sex scenes, sexual references and coarse language

Director: Alix Delaporte
Actors: Clotilde Hesme, Gregory Gadebois, Evelyne Didi, Jerome Huguet

Angèle (rising star Clotilde Hesme) is a young woman falling apart. She arrives at the seaside town of Normandy, fiercely determined to reconnect with her young son, yet also scared she’s unfit to take care of him. Tony (Gregory Gadebois) is a fisherman who lives with his widowed mother, trapped in emotional solitude. The two meet via a personal ad; Angèle is forthright and rough, and her attempts to seduce him are met with surprise: Tony literally can’t believe his luck.

The two form a fractured relationship, but will the secret that Angèle harbours threaten their future?

With her quiet, intimate approach, Delaporte allows the actors to shine, and the pitch-perfect, wholly naturalistic performances from Hesme and Gadebois elevate this absorbing and sensitive drama, as does the magnificent coastal scenery.

Hmmm, my husband and I found this French sub-titled movie to be quite odd and a little unfulfilling. The main characters are not that likeable, you don't really warm to them or feel for them - I merely felt like an observer rather than emotionally involved in this story. The two main characters, Angel and Tony, are a VERY odd couple and I constantly wondered what they saw in each other. The story meandered a lot, there was very little dialogue and lots of silences. All in all, a little disappointing.

Touching story of what at first appears an impossible relationship, but you can take 'realism' - or naturalism - too far. A bit soporific.

Didn't watch it, after the first half hour or so, I got sick of reading the sub titles, probably my mistake for choosing a film. I was unaware it was a foreign film. Story line was also out of the ordinary. Just not my kinda film.

ok the woman seems a bit too gorgeous- for someone who's just left gaol, but she's believable in the end- and tony is so cool. I'd marry him for sure. cheesy ending with the wedding dress on, but also moving. satisfying. romantic in a non-'notebook' kind of way

Short and sweet but quite deep if you analyse it. A compact no frills classic that you almost will to go on and on. Some say that this is unresolved but I disagree.

Very realistic acting for a small movie with a simple story like France is used to make. Nothing to be excited about. What an ordinary life in France actually is and feels.

This is an odd little movie! There is little dialogue between the actors. The main actors probably only spoke about a hundreds each. No one seems to say thanks or hello to anyone throughout the movie, perhaps it is a French thing. Still I can't say that I dislike it, but it wasn't great either. Perhaps a little remote and emotionally detached for my liking!

A particularly strange couple: guy a straightforward hard-working fisherman, girl very mysterious, secretive and sexually provocative. The girl's story is only slowly revealed and there's not a lot to it. In between are lots of lingering shots of faces with nothing happening. And some of the storylines appear to go nowhere or are not clearly resolved. For all that, it's quite a pretty film.

Ang?le et Tony is and excellent film, filled with understated performances and hints at events that provoke further thought. A quality film that doesn't always state the obvious which is typical of fine French cinema. Clotilde Hesme's performance as Ang?le and Gr?gory Gadebois as Tony are incredible portrayals of complex characters.
