Will Ferrell is Ron Burgundy, a top-rated 1970 s San Diego anchorman who believes women have a place in the newsroom - as long as they stick to covering fashion shows or late-breaking cooking news. So when Ron is told he ll be working with a bright young newswoman who s beautiful, ambitious and smart enough to be more than eye candy, it s not just a clash of two TV-people with really great hair - it s war! Filled with wicked wit and slapstick humour, Anchorman is the year s most wildly irreverent, must-see comedy hit!

Funny, silly movie. Same kind of humour seen in other movies with the same actors/director.

Not as great as I was hoping for, although this movie still provided a few good laughs. The all star cast was a bonus. Bloopers were very funny.

This wasn't as bad as everyone had told me. Just a bit bad in places but some funny bits in there as well

Spent the entire movie hoping it would get better. In the end it did improve so I gave it 1 star instead of none. Not my type of humour.. if you can call it humour.

Not the best Will Ferrell movie you could see, but still enjoyable if you like this type of low brow satire. Not sure if a sequel (planned for 2010) is a good idea however.

Is this the worst movie ever made? I suspect it's way up there with "Country Life" and "Shoes of the Fisherman". Will Ferrell wrote this and thought it was funny? Will Ferrell then acted in it and thought he was funny? He was pathetic. Christina Applegate (who was not bad) should get herself a new agent). Only one laugh in the whole movie. Dumb, dumb, dumb!!!!

I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I decided to give this movie a go. There are a few funny bits but I think you probably need to be high or have the same warped sense of humour as Will Ferrell to really enjoy the film. It was passable but I wouldn't sit through it again.

For the most part, this film is ridiculous ... it's all about Ferrell & his unique if not crazed humour .. the cameos were a treat, as was Christina Applegate who really shone in this one .. when it wasn't totally stupid (Will's exchanges with his dog?) it was funny & my 12 y/o son loved it.

Sheer lunacy, this lampoon of ‘70s media sexism loosely centres on a TV newsroom invasion by ambitious Veronica Corningstone played by curvaceous Christina Applegate. Will Farrell is the macho, vain and egocentric, but mostly likable, Ron Burgundy, San Diego’s TV news number one anchorman who does not want to share the limelight. Steve Carell as Brick Tamland, the weatherman is dumber than dumb, and is the funniest of the news casting team. There are gags galore, but look for the hilarious subtitled exchange between Burgundy’s dog, Baxter, and a Kodiak bear. Like a 20 second grab of uninspiring news this movie nevertheless entertains, if that makes sense!

The only reason I didn't give it a Don't Bother is because one scene made me laugh hard. Other than that, it was painfully stupid, and not in a fun movie way.

Remember Christina Applegate from "Married With Children"? Well, she's in this flick playing the determined (botox'd?) anchorwoman who is hopelessly smitten with the bearded one, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell). Some great one liners especially after the news broadcasts, when the two exchange snide insults disguised as cheery post-news banter, as the credits roll.

It was a great idea for a film and it could have been a funny, biting, satirical comedy but instead they went for broad humour and prat-falls and ruined it.
