this movie is Pus ..don't bother
AAAAAAHHHHHH don't ever leave the screen to check the movie details: it deletes your almost-finished review!!!!!
In summary: JT and Emile Hirsch are good, so is Anton Yelchin. Willis makes a short but effective presence as an obnoxious father. There is a lot in this that could have been made more of; made better. The captions pretend to the Law and Order "tv-verite" style, but even at the end, reading the pre-credit captions outlining the fates of the various protagonists, we don't know whether this is entirely fiction, based on fact, or mocumentary, and that is important to the "so what do I care?" factor. If indeed it is based on fact, it fails to wrap up the story effectively; if it isn't, then it fails nonetheless. Don't expect to be uplifted by this: grim view of LA, grim view of young adults, grim view of parents... in all pretty demoralising, despite the energetic performances.
What a powerful movie, with great twists, crime scenes, acting and ending. Will watch again!
Great movie with a very disturbing and sad ending, I was thinking about that ending for days afterward...
It's hard to think of Emile Hirsch as a crimelord, but I think he pulls it off admirably. JT is also quite believable. Everyone can be petty at time and hold a grudge, and this just shows what can happen when taken to the extreme. Well worth a look.
This kind of film has been done many times before. It is one of the better ones of its kind that I have seen. Helped by charismatic casting.
Better than I expected it to be, although knowing that it is based on real events really does make you feel more than a little despair.
Three and a half star. Parents keep the leash on your children!
A long movie but one well worth the trouble. It was heavily grounded in a true story - that of Jesse James Hollywood (Johnny Truelove in the movie). No silly, over-the-top gunfights here; no violence without consequences - instead a refreshing touch of realism that gives a potent edge to the drama and a steadily-rising sense of dread as a series of poor decisions reaches a tragic conclusion.
I have seen Bruce Willis in much better movies, Boring to me.
amazing - very disturbing
Was the script intentionally bad to make the characters seem like losers. Because it worked, I hated all characters in this aswell as the story.
Another movie in storng contention for the "worst movie ever made" accolade.
Really, it insenses me that I'm struggling to make ends meet, and there's people out there being paid to write, act, direct and produce such dribble.
I'm not sure if the majority of the budget went into funding Willis and Stone's cameo's or what exactly happened - but this movie is ordinary... very ordinary.
Switched it off after an hour. Bad.
Great movie, solid storyline. However Justin Timberlake ....stick to acting
It's a bit crude & not what I thought it would be like.
The movie starts off with a constant circle of partying, mild drug use and far too much bad language but evolves into an incredibly moving story, based on actual events. As the story unfolds, you begin to see the true colours of each character and can't help but feel sorry for some (Timberlake's especially) who knows what they are doing is wrong but can't seem to take a stand against the leader of the gang (well played by Emile Hirsch). I am a big Timberlake fan, but at times his character is whiny and annoying, however, I am easily distracted when he appears shirtless in a few scenes. The ending is powerful and very well acted. The most touching thing is that these events actually happened and an innocent young life was lost because of a stupid decision made on a whim without any thought of the consequences.
Average action / gangland movie, just felt myself hating all the characters and just didn't know where the movie was taking me. There's is better out there.
One of those movies where you just want to slap every one and say "Wake up". Good story, bad language, a little sad.
this movie is just awsome, its a not a perfect movie, but this has great actors with a great story i really do like this move, the drama is awsome and its a sad thing what happen to this kid.
No new territory here. Been done before & done better. Good cameos from Bruce Willis (with hair!), Sharon Stone & Harry Dean Stanton.
Extremely intense movie makes you think about your own children.
