HIGH LEVEL VIOLENCE

Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Actors: Winona Ryder, Sigourney Weaver, Ron Perlman, Dan Hedaya, Brad Dourif, Michael Wincott, J.E. Freeman

Weaver and Winona Ryder star in this terrifying, highly anticipated final chapter to the legacy. Although Ellen Ripley (Weaver) died fighting the perfect predator, two hundred years and eight horrific experiments later, she's back as a group of scientists have cloned her--along with the alien queen inside her--hoping to breed the ultimate weapon. But the resurrected Ripley is full of surprises for her 'creators,' as are the aliens. And soon, a lot more than "all hell" breaks. To combat the creatures, Ripley must team up with a band of smugglers, including a mechanic named Call (Ryder) who holds more than a few surprises of her own. Alive with spectacular special effects and co-starring Ron Perlman, Dan Hedaya, J.E. Freeman, Brad Dourif and Michael Wincott, it is a riveting, pulse-pounding roller coaster ride that's 'reborn to be wild' (Entertainment Weekly).

You can't be the original but I really enjoyed this and thought it was much better than Alien 3. Weaver and Ryder are great. I think a lot of people did not like it because of its style. Alien was pure noir. Aliens was a typical US box office action movie. While Alien Resurrection has the French quirkiness of its direct Jeunet. If you don't like quirky and were expecting typical US action movie, I can understand why you may think it is a little camp.

I really like this version of the movie, cloning was relatively new to the world regarding sheep and this movie opened up scary future possibilities! I was dissappointed they didn't give Ripley more action scenes against the Aliens being torn between "family" but her earth instincts being stronger. Her best scene was kicking Ron Perlman's ass with the basketball!

Alien Resurrection's much more quirky and sexual than the previous movies in the series. It has a French director, so what do you expect? It's a very French style movie. The quirkiness of the movie may upset some fans who preferred the serious tone of the others, but I saw it as a statement of how the loneliness of space has driven humanity insane. The same themes of bleak humanity and callous human behaviour return here, and Ripley's painful losses of those she cares about are found here too again in the biological connection she shares with the aliens and eventually the alien child which sees her as a mother. A movie about the abomination of a life that humans have created for themselves.

Ryder is hauntingly beautiful in this tale of the final Aliens movie. I so hope she is cast in any sequels.

Hmmm...suffers the problem of sequel symptoms, first two great, third movie so so. This one very far fetched and just not that well scripted or thought about.

Weakest of the series for me. Seemed like bit of a sellout. Nowhere near as much atmosphere as the others.

Enjoyable 4th instalment to the Alien series, with a cloned Ripley returning from the dead. Great special effects and an interesting story. Would have liked to see more of the support cast. The second disc is loaded with special features. If you liked this try Creepozoid, a B movie that has a similar feel.

Although I love the Alien series. This one went too far and lacked the conviction of the others. The story was not not scary enough and I reckon they lost the plot on this one. It reminded me of the Island of Dr. Morreau with Marlon Brando - real shocker!!
