Academy Award winners Jack Lemmon, Lee Grant, Olivia de Havilland, George Kennedy, and James Stewart star in this deep-sea disaster movie about a 747 trapped underwater in the Bermuda Triangle. Full of VIPs and art treasures owned by a millionaire (Stewart), it goes down during a hijack attempt, and courageous Captain Gallagher (Lemmon) must keep the passengers alive until they are rescued. Presented in its original wide-screen format to preserve the spectacular action scenes, Airport '77 is highlighted by the work of Oscar-winning effects wizard Albert Whitlock (Earthquake, The Hindenburg). With George Kennedy recreating his role of Joe Patroni from the original Airport and Airport 1975, this third installment of the successful series was directed by Jerry Jameson (Hurricane, Raise the Titanic).

Good film. The special affects are pretty standard, but probably state of the art in the 1970's! Storyline was good and built suspense.

As disaster movies go, this is one of the better ones of time gone by. At least the realism was there enough to keep the suspense true to form. Worth a look with some well known actors to make the whole believable.

Cheesy disaster movie which is nevertheless entertaining -- marks Jack Lemmon's sole foray into the disaster epic, and he performs the best in the cast (though James Stewart and Olivia de Haviland are always fun to have around) If you love cheesy, all-star disaster movies (a personal weakness of mine) there's considerable enjoyment to be had.
