AGE OF HEROES is an all-guns-blazing, World War II action film based on the incredible true story of the British special ops division 30 Commando, starring Sean Bean and Danny Dyer. Following the first mission of this elite unit, formed by 'James Bond' author Ian Fleming and a precursor to the modern day SAS. The film follows the exploits of Corporal Rains (Dyer) as he is inducted into Fleming's newly formed 30 Commando, where he and the rest of the platoon are put through intensive training under the watchful eye of Sean Bean's Major Jones. Their skills and endurance are pushed to the limit as they prepare for their first highly classified and dangerous mission: to parachute into occupied Norway and capture vital radar technology that is key to winning the war. But the plan goes spectacularly wrong, and the commandos find themselves in a pitched battle to reach the border as vicious Nazi Commander Teichman (Eric Madsen) and the Germans' deadly 5th Alpine Division tighten the noose.

Age of Heroes is not a glorified Bruce Willis, american, blood and gore, corny story line movie that we are conditioned to expect. All the reason I don't like war movies. The movie is thoughtful of the times and conditions it is set in, during WWII based on a secret mission into Norway. There is some action but being a secret mission it is on the quiet side. This movie is for people looking for an honest story with a grown up taste in movies, there are no corny phrases, no super heroes and honest acting.

This movie was worth the watch but not quite as rivetting as i thought it would be. They seem to talk very soft at times and make it a bit hard to really keep up with it.

It is okay, but if you are into WWII movies, Band of Brothers and Pacific are much much better.

this film wanders along a plotline which varies from ok to ridiculous.Sean Bean....best roll was in "Ronin" ...because it was brief...where do they get the money to make these movies?

I thought that this was an ok War Movie. It had a reasonable story line which was suppose to be based on true events (who knows) . The action were more low key, not blood and gore. The acting was also OK I have seen better war movies but from the comments below maybe I am easy pleased.

Not bad for a low budget British film. A lot like The Dirty Dozen. Interesting story.
