I found this a really captivating film. Seeing the complications of relationships from this perpective was insightful indeed. 4 stars.

Insightful with an attention-grabbing cast, I found this a faithful adaptation of the Anne Tyler novel; a study of the drama in otherwise unromantic lives. Some - but not all - of the characters eventually weigh up the pros and cons of what relationships are on offer without the floweriness of Jane Austen, or the predictability of an american rom-com.

An example of failed book to film. Excellent acting couldn't save a trite adaptation.
