This film apart from a different theme based off the 3 billy goats fable is simply re-hashing Them (2003) with a tunnel and a different style of monster. Acting saves it from one star esp. the chubby detective who comes off best and a nice sense of doom but sadly it falls apart in the 3rd act and even the ending rips off them in the same style but different setting(a tunnel instead of a closet) Would had better with a bigger budget showing the underground world and explained things better. Average at best.
I agree with what all below me have said. Its a bit slow, but it keeps you interested. It has a good story line but it just didn't go anywhere & the ending was pretty c**p. It could have been so much better. I watched it with my teen son & we
agreed it was not that bad, we have seen worse.
I actually liked the actors in this, but the ending was lame....could have been good.
A bit slow but not a bad movie, spiked some interest.
Bizzare, not the best actors, slightly confusing but it does draw you in.
Obviously filmed on a very low budget with actors that actually look like normal human beings rather than super-models, Absentia proved to be marginally better than I was expecting. This is not a great film by any standards, but the cast is competent and the storyline fairly engaging until it runs out of steam (and logic) in the final scenes. Verdict : you could do worse on a rainy weekend or boring weeknight.
