There was a dark cloud hanging over the Port Adelaide Football Club in 2004. Consecutive finals failures in 2002 and 2003 had hurt this proud club and injuries to key players had the experts writing the power off once again. However, Port Adelaide’s rich tradition of over one hundred and thirty years has shown it is tough, uncompromising and successful, no matter the circumstances. Port endured a long battle just to enter the AFL and then struggled to find its feet amongst the AFL’s elite. However, the Port faithful always knew it was never going to be a matter of if, but when.
