Certainly B- grade film. Throws together many of the "alien", "area 51" military secret stuff and turns it into somewhat of a movie. Tries to build character and alliances between the humans and aliens; fairly dismal. Tough female ends up doing most of the "hero" work.
This aspires to reach B Grade horror but in reality hits a target somewhat lower down the alphabet. Woeful direction and poor creature effects. The best bit was when I feel asleep for 20 minutes… and the seeing the credits come up was also quite pleasing.
Alien creature feature with some good kills, could not decide if it was aiming for black comedy or political satire.
plenty of guts & gore rigth throughout the movie. However there is little story line & what story line it has is predictable & boring
Unfortunately the english language has few words to describe the paucity of intelligence, direction, logic, visual aspiration, graphics or indeed any other parameter by which a film may be judged. It is indeed the worst film and the poorest film I have seen in 60 years! Nothing is worth commending. Infantile, puerile, lacking any sense of direction, having taken most of its paucity of themes from 'Alien' really a shockingly produced, directed bunch of rubbish. Sad.
This was better than the average B grade horror movie. I give it 2.5 stars.
If you want to watch this film, just expect a better-than-average B-Grade horror flick that will keep you curiously entertained for an hour and a half. Not a big budget movie but special effects used, especially to depict the aliens, were good enough. Imagine you're reading a novel, a little pot boiler about Area 51, and you think the story's not too bad. Well, this is like a novel put to film, but a film in which you get a full serve of gore.
Watching the shorts for the other After Dark Originals, that's the common theme: they are all gore/blood slashers, but with pretty good acting and a story. I don't know if I'll be watching any more in the After Dark Original series, but if the situation arises, I would suggest that these films would be best enjoyed with some mates so everyone can have a good laugh together.
I didn't mind this one. It's a "B" Grader, and quite a bit better than the "Peacock" offerings. Thought there was some tongue in cheek satire in the dialogue and the creatures. I enjoyed it well enough to give it a 50/50 2.5 star rating. Judging by some of the other reviews, if this is one of the lesser quality ones then the other "After Dark's" should be worth a 3-3.5 star.
Enjoyed this monster/alien movie.
Quite decent and a couple of famior actors from past films stick out with passible acting but the plot simply tries to judge one too many monsters whereas one single thing or alien like alien would had worked and the alien effects look either cheap or a reject effect from stargate/farscape. Not one of ADO's best but far from their worst and is enjoyable on a popcorn level with decent carnage but ADO did better with Prowl and Husk.
A fun & basic alien slasher, a little bit like aliens with bad acting and bad sets. A good film for somebody who would like to try a slasher. Watch while drinking a few beers.
I've been working my way through the After Dark movies, and was quite pleasantly surprised with Husk and Prowl. Unfortunately, it's been all downhill from there - so far, Scream of the Banshee, Fertile Ground and The Task have all failed to impress me. So I wasn't expecting much from 51, which was a good thing, because, quite frankly, it was just plain awful. Terrible acting, a stupid plot and ridiculous special effects all combined to waste an hour and a half of my life. If you're reading this and thinking "surely it couldn't be that bad", trust me when I say it really is. Watch at your own peril.
ok watch. i felt this was a tad slow in places but overall it is worth watching. One of the better ADO's
Can't say this was worth the watch - disappointing horror
