Scatological and sentimental, satirical and sincere, 50 FIRST DATES pairs Adam Sandler with Drew Barrymore in this romantic comedy about the power of love and short-term memory loss in Hawaii. Henry Roth (Sandler), the local marina veterinarian, only dates tourists because he's afraid of commitment--that is, until he meets Lucy (Barrymore). Unfortunately, Lucy lost her short-term memory months ago in a car accident, and for her, each day is October the 13th. She follows the same routine every day--breakfast at the same restaurant, pineapple-picking with her dad, and eventually bed time, where sleep wipes away her short-term memory. Henry, however, refuses to be forgotten, and as his puppy love matures, he embarks on a quest to restore her memory, or at least be a part of her everyday routine. But vying for Lucy's attention isn't always easy. Sandler explores various neophytic approaches before making a video for Lucy to watch every morning, reminding her of who she is and what she's doing. The film includes a trademark Sandler ballad as Henry serenades Lucy with his ukulele and a series of familiar salacious puns. Rob Schneider plays Henry's best friend, a goofy native stoner whose physical hijinks earn many of laughs, and a cameo by Dan Akroyd as Lucy's doctor rounds out the cast.

Great movie - good for the guys and girls.
Loved the heartwarming attempts Sandler makes to get Barrymore, and the sensitivity he shows to her condition - better than some of his other movies where he is a lot more shallow.

This movie was so much better than I thought it would be. Has got a very fun plot and everyone works well together. Has some very romantic and quirky bits, it's hard not to laugh out loud! Drew Barrymore is the star of this film and has some very funny lines. Features a great ending and is defiantly for people who love a good romance movie. I thought that it had the feel of an older movie, it has a timeless feel about it. Watch it if you liked The Wedding Singer.

I am not a big fan of Adam Sandler but had heard this was a good film. I watched it and really enjoyed it. Adam and Drew both played believeable roles and the storyline, although a bit far fetched in places, was good. The script was funny too. I thought Rob Schneider was great as Adam Sandlers best friend. And those kids of his were just adorable. All in all, one of the best films I have seen for quite some time. A flick all the family, including the oldies, would enjoy. Go get it!!!

If you like Adam Sandler movies like me you'll love this one too ! All the usual Sandler cast make appearences with the usual Sandler comedy. Drew and Adam are teamed up again, (also stared in Wedding Singer) and are great together. This movie is just as good if not a bee's thingy better than the Wedding singer and right up there as a Sandler best. Romantic Comedy which is always good cause there's somthing for the blokes and girls. Extras include some Outakes which I think every movie should have. (Like Jackie Chan Movies another favourite of mine.)

I've never been a very avid fan of the romantic comedy genre or even of Adam Sandler movies. Yet this funny, strangely inventive and ultimately very affecting movie proved a satisfying suprise on one lonely Friday night. The incandescent Barrymore is so utterly charming and likable that it makes the premise of Sandler's self centred character falling for her seems credible.
