started with a lot of promise before degenerating into hollywood smultzy rubbish. 3/4 of a good film . What is wrong in america that they can not make a strong movie in any genre at the moment ?Crowe is wasted in this .

dreadful, when compared to the original (just watched out of curiosity ) BAD acting, staging, storyline, too much ridiculous violence. the original actors just made the whole thing far more believable and a far far better movie

Love Russell Crowe, but this was not my favorite. It did however have a good, moral lesson at the end. Christian Bale was great.

Whilst the plot was less than perfect - the acting by Russell Crowe, Christian Bale and Ben Foster was excellent and made this a first-class entertainment.

Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are absolutely brilliant foils for each other in this remake. Bale's dark intensity sets off Crowe's cockiness really well. Great tension build-up and the action scenes are top-notch. Edge of the seat stuff.

Great western, quite a few twists that you don't expect that keep you guessing what's up next. Then a final twist to end a strange tale.

For a Western (not generally my cup of tea) I really enjoyed this movie. It had a good plot twist, good casting of actors and I liked the ending.

Interesting CD. Russell Crowe certainly is a very good actor. Really enjoyed this CD even though I'm not a lover of westerns.

Having seen the original this remake left me cold. Diction poor, often unclear - find this a lot in films these days. At least in the 'oldies' you could understand every word they were saying. This film is plodding and left me disinterested.

Normally remakes are not as good as the original, I am yet to see the original with Glen Ford, this version with Russel Crowe and Christian Bale was good.

3.10 to Yuma, once again reinforces the opinion that Russell Crowe is one of the best actors in the business. Classic Western, far superior to the original. Christian Bale is back to his best. Not since American Psycho have I admired his work. This movie is one for those like their movies the old fashioned way. Classic story, fantastic acting, great sets, great action, and scenery. Highly recommended, I must commend Adriaan van Jaarsveldt's on his review, couldn't agree more.

Most over-rated movie of the year by a margin. Stupid plot badly acted and poorly directed. If you like Westerns there are 100's of better ones than this!!!!

Are you kidding? How did this get so highly rated? Anyone who thinks this a good Western should watch Unforgiven, The good, the bad and the ugly or The magnificent seven (i could write a list longer than a Bob Marley scoob of Westerns better than this) so that they have a reference point for what a good Western is!!! Boring and stupid!!!

Didnt really get in to this. Crowe does not make a good cowboy and his character was far from convincing. Bale's character was non distinct as well. Action scenes also left a lot to be desired.

I absolutely loved this movie and I'm not a big Western fan. Russell Crowe was fantastic as the bad guy and Christian Bale; what can't that man do?? I recommend this movie to everyone! A definite must-see!!

Not a bad western for modern times. But I still think the original was better. Russell didn't come over as violent enough in this part. Jack Nicholson would have done a better job.

Well-paced but menacingly slow in places. Russell Crowe does his best as the villain but doesn't come across as all that menacing but rather as a manipulator. There's a deleted scene which should have been included as it explains why the villain is so co-operative in the end. How come it takes 5 or 6 shots to kill the hero but only one shot each for the gang - except for Charlie P, who takes two - must be that Russ's gun is supercharged - maybe it's that inlay in the handle! I'd be interested to see the original to see how it stacks up against this re-make.

Great film, really enjoyed it. A modern western but with classic themes. The coming of the railroad, the clash between the way of the gun and reliance on law and order. To me it has a lot in common with the great John Ford's 'The Man who shot Liberty Valance' and it doesnt suffer in comparison. Blessed with two magnificent lead performances by Christian Bale and the incomparable Russell Crowe it also boasts brilliant support actors notably Ben Foster, Peter Fonda and the kid who plays Bale's son. You dont have to be a fan of westerns to enjoy this film but if you are you will certainly love it.

This has to be said, but it's not as good as the orginal. But overall it's not too bad. Apart from Crowe's accent coming and going and finally (thankfully) going. Not convinced that Crowe did the role of Ben Wade as well as Ford. Ford just seemed to be much slicker and world knowledgeable with this underlying feeling of heartless evil, yet with the ability to switch on the charm and make you like him. I never liked the ending to the orginal. It should have ended after they got on the train. With Evans waving to his wife from the box car as it sped along made it very corny and rather a dissapointing note to finish on. I had hoped the new version would be better. No such luck. What an awful ending. Having everyone killed bar Wade is such a joke. Especially when he killed most of his own men. VERY dissapointed. Even Evans got killed which never happened in the original. Then the modern version tried to make Wade out to be some hard done by killer who turned himself in. You've got to be kidding!!!!! Give me the original end anyday. In fact, give me the original anyday over this one.

Enjoyed the Movie, was a good yarn however I thought the ending was very weak (I haven't seen the original yet), a typical Hollywood film with the baddies shooting at the goodies and no one hits the main characters even at close range.

Don't be taken in by the apparent charm of Crowe's Ben Wade character. Wade is a true psychopath, cruel, ruthless, amoral. Crowe brings the character well to the screen. Good to see the western updated,it still has a lot to say about contemporary society which hasn't changed at all since the 1900s.

This is one of the stupidest movie senarios I had the misfortune to watch. And I did watch it all the way to the end just to find out how stupid it could get. I know it's based on 19th century justice etc, but even back then they knew about gagging prisoners. I guess it would have been a very short movie if a gag had been used on the Russell Crowe character, but come on. It's a remake of the 50s original, maybe they believed this sort of plot back then, but it's just ridiculous.

One of the great westerns - Crowe plays the baddy so well!!. Certainly a lot more gory than the original, but that is just the special effects being far more realistic. The best movie I've seen Christian Bale act in.

I loved this movie. It’s an old-style western, a real shoot'em up, set in the time when men were men. Not a trace of irony, stylisation, excessive violence, spaghetti westernism or any of the other –isms that have infected the modern western. It restores the western to being about values and integrity. The actors are all excellent. Russell Crowe is perfect for this sort of role. Were the western still as popular as back then he would surely have been a modern day Duke. Christian Bale, an actor who never fails to deliver, is compelling as the struggling rancher who agrees to take the lethally dangerous outlaw Ben Wade (Crowe) to meet the 3.10 train to take him to Yuma prison in exchange for payment of $200 which will save his family farm from the debt collectors. This is a remake of the movie of the same title made in 1957 starring Glenn Ford.
