Interesting study of the 2 characters & slowlty draws you in to an experience exploring a range of very human themes... slow @ times but definitely worth a look...

Settings too modern. Would have had a better impact if set in the early 70's when AIDS was so feared. Interesting story line but too wishy washy. Needed more guts to make the movie worthwhile

Okay, first thing you gotta do with this movie is remember that it was made on a small budget so the appearance is quite removed from what these guys (Speedman and Marsden) are usually in. For me, I considered this as a play, from which the story actually appeared. After that it's a powerful and often titilating performance by both actors. When I say "titilating" I mean in every sense of the word and not just in an erotic sense. The actual tension in this movie is so genuine you're creeping closer to the edge of your seat throughout watching it. First you think these two guys have got together for a night or fun in the sack or on the couch, or wherever they please, with Speedman's character the "virgin" of the two. But what unfolds quite cleverly is a thrilling story. Very quickly you learn these guys have met before. But all is not as it might seem . . . As lies unfold and pain is exposed bare like a wound, the lives of these two men changes for ever. Heart rending with a very real theme of "safe sex" and the consequences of not playing safely. The rippling effect HIV positive status has on an individual and their loved ones gets under your skin. Who is to blame for a positive status? Who is to blame if the night you slept together you were too drunk to know whether you were safe or not. Speedman and Marsden do great jobs with this story. It's full of powerful dialogue you can imagine very easily sounding through the auditorium of a theatre. But this story works as a movie and is interspersed with enough flash backs and memories to tell the story without confusing the viewer as to what is going on in the present. If you like to be provoked to thought, then this movie is for you.

The plot is certainly different, but it certainly is'nt the usual sort of movie I watch. It actually reminded me of a stage play.
