Great story and sets and actors! To me, a little-known part of English history (before Robin Hood and the Crusades) and intriguing to watch unfold. Heroes, villains and blood-and guts .Good stuff!

The actors, particularly Eddie Redmayne & the always bodacious Matthew Mac lifts this to a greater level. Visually, it is very well-done (the Scott legacy is strong). If you like this genre and are waiting for Games of Thrones Series 3 you'll be familiar with the usual suspects/storylines (good v evil, always an evil Cardinal, much plotting, nasty kings etc etc) and this is a nice 8-episode saga.

Takes itself too seriously, almost all characters are one-dimensional goodies or baddies and the whole thing is rather leaden. This sort of thing can be done well (eg The Borgias) but not here.

Fabulous series. Thank you Quickflix for keeping the discs coming. We don't want it to end. We have the final chapter to see. Agree it was good to go back to the first episode to get the characters sorted. Husbands and wives will both enjoy this.!!!!!! Epic storytelling, (mystery, adventure, intrigue, history) filming, acting, production, casting and everything. How can I find more movies like this one?

There are some great actors in this Tv series but I think that is the only thing going for it.

Disc 1 needs to be re-watched to get this vast canvas of characters sorted. Having read the novel is an advantage. Top marks to bringing this age so realisticaly to the screen with the very best of sets, costume and action.

Brilliant book and a worthy transformation to film (TV Series) Offers compelling insight into the building of Cathedrals in the middle ages and the politics of church and state. The story - in typical Follett fashion, has many twists and turns that will engross the adult members of your family, Produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien) this is quality viewing.

If you are a fan of the historical drama with lots of blood and guts, sex and intrigue, then you will see this costume drama as a masterpiece. The very fact that Ridley Scott is involved, should tell you enough (Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Robin Hood). See it before it is shown on free to air television where it will be swamped with ads.

Great film version of the fabulous book by Ken Follett. Some slight changes but only so viewers have a clearer understanding of the events. Looking forward to Disc 2. Would be good viewing for all ages (15 & over). My mother (86yo), my daughter (16yo) and myself (you can guess) were all entertained.

Disc 1,2,3. An epic and sensuous love story full of action, love, hate, intrigue and dispair. A must see.

As with most complicated stories, it is always best to have read the book before seeing the movie. On the other hand, a lot of the detail in the book has been changed in the screenplay, anyway. Nevertheless, 12th Century England with all its sex, violence and intrigue has been expertly re-created in this semi-historical movie, the actors are well cast and the special effects are impressive.
