BAFTA winning comedy about the Slough paper-merchant where life is stationery. David Brent (Ricky Gervais) is a petty, pompous boss who thinks he’s the funniest, most popular man in the world. He is wrong.

Tim (Martin Freeman) really is popular and funny but the joke is on him, as he’s stuck in the middle of this little world – a world in which he hates everything except the receptionist Dawn. Will Tim escape? Will Dawn choose the right man? And will David Brent ever regret letting a film crew into the office

Superbly uncomfortable to watch as Ricky makes us sqirm through recognition of all those organisational parasites that we have had to deal with/ work with. The US series was great but nothing beats the authentic creep that Ricky acts in this original British Series.

I love The Office. Brittish tv at its best. No other series has such a high cringe factor, causing me to hide my face often as if watching a scarey movie...man they know how to make me laugh. We've all worked with people like those in The Office and dealt with them much the same way which is why it's so great, it's very realistic.

i enjoyed most of the characters but couldnt stand the twerp of a boss, he would have to own the company to survive. he was totally uninteresting and youd tell him where to go pretty quickly.

Brilliant, simply brilliant. Even more than 5 years after it was made it remains very topical and cutting.

Such wry humour, how could they ever expect Hollywood to even get close to it in a 'remake'. The best English comedy since 'The Fast Show' or 'Fawlty Towers'.

The "fly on the wall" aspect of the show can make it drag sometimes, but it is a funny and original series that is definitely a classic of its time.

Ricky & co at their absolute best! David Brent is an absolute boss from hell and you will enjoy every minute of it. People who don't work in offices won't enjoy it as much.

I watched one episode and the start of the next and returned the disk with the remaining five episodes unwatched. I didn't crack a smile once: it is absolutely boring, sick rather than funny, and it was a real chore to watch as much as I did.

You'll either love it or hate it. If you're into comedies that poke fun at everyday situations, warts and all, and you don't mind laughing at someone who may just be yourself - get it.

What can you say about David Brent and his team at Wernham Hog? Just absolute comic genius and everyone surely knows a boss like David Brent. This DVD covers episodes 1 -6 of the first series and it is packed with awkward silences and withering looks from Brent, Gareth, Tim, Dawn and filthy Chris Finch. Rent it today and you will not be disappointed.

One of the most original comedy series I've seen. It is so close to real life it hurts. And yes, Slough really is that grey. Worth also watching the extras that come with it for some interesting behind the scenes info.
