Thought this was better than I was expecting! Hadn't heard of it before reading some reviews. Characters, storylines all came across well. Hats off to all those involved.

I can't help but think the high ratings these series have received have come from heterosexuals, particularly males, as no self respecting lesbian would give these shows any credence at all. Pure fiction and Hollywood as they may be, these shows do not portray, in any way, shape or form, life (lesbian or not) as it really is. Over glamourised (think gay Dynasty) with characters who can't keep their mind above the waist. Everyone is successful, has money, is gorgeous and still has to see a therapist. An absolute crock in my opinion. American trash in its purest form.

I watched this series on tv but missed alot so decided to rent it. In DISC 1 - The start of 'L WORD' its a little slow, i think that the more you watch the series the better they get until your enthralled into it, & watch it religously. You dont have to be a lesbian to watch it, alot of people steroetype you, as in that if you watch it you must be bisexual or gay, its not necessarily the case. Truth is that alot of people are secretly interested in this type of lifestyle or information as its not something we know alot about ... if you dont live the lifestyle then your oblivious to it & wonder 'hey how do they llive like this or how do they meet people or how do things work in their relationships/or in the bedroom...'. We all wonder.... Its just curiosity to a life style thats different than your own. Harmless curiousity. aNd if you are gay or bisexual then maybe you'll relate to this series & its charecters & situations, or maybe you'll point out the crap that straight people cant.... Even the husbands will be interested in this dvd but probably for different reasons than your own!!! (than a females reasons). Shallow minds will be thinking 'hey i wanna see 2 chicks getting it on', mature & open minds will be thinking 'hey i wanna see how other people live their lifestyles & know this information instead of wondering'...

If you are in to sloppy tv serials then this is the show for you. I really enjoyed it. If you take offence to gay sex then don't watch it!

Superior in direction and scripting, soapy in intent, erotic in inclination but televisual in final effect.

I loved this show when it was first on tv last year. It's like the female version of Queer as Folk but not as graphic. It's got a fantastic cast and I think it's a great series. I'm looking forward to seeing the next season.
