Have to confess only put this one on my list for Robert Pattinson and was pleasantly surprised with the acting and storyline. Really good.

I love this type of movie set in the ancient times of gods and myths and battles. Great cast and story along the lines of other tragic love stories.

This is really a very good film; the cgi is excellent and understated, the casting is great with the exception of the lead who is ok (try not to look at his hair, it is almost hypnotically bad) and it starts and ends with dead blondes, wonderful stuff. Max von Sydow looks younger now than he did in The Exorcist, he must have a painting in the attic. Julian Sands maintains an air of quiet menace throughout the whole film that frankly I would never have thought him capable of, though admittedly his demise is kind of wet. You can understand why Wagner made on opera out of this (and why no-one plays it too, its really quite long even as a film)

A little slow to take off however necessary to set the scene. It's easy to see why these stories were the inspiration for Tolken. I really enjoyed this. It's well written and considering over a third of the film is done using cgi, I think they've produced a very believable setting. Ultimately it's a love story, at a time when your destiny was laid out for you by the gods. Kristanna Loken is excellent as the Icelandic Queen and very believable in the role. Benno Furmann was equally as good in the lead role and successfully created a hero in his lead role. Highly recommend this film.
