This series is a lot better than current TV programming and much better viewed on DVD. Excellent performances and production. Black humour interspersed among the tragedies and surprises of everyday life and death, and a refreshing absence of moralising from the writers and directors. Will give you something to think about.

Really great tv is a little hard to come by. This will restore your faith. Bold and brave stories, great characters. Bleak in parts but it is set in a funeral parlour....

This is a subtle, deep and very well written show. The actors are uniformly of the highest quality and the plot development is compelling if not necessarily pleasant. A great joy of each episode is the "cold start", which defines how someone becomes this weeks customer at the familys funeral home. The first episode also includes some deeply disconcerting funerial industry advertising that is is just wrong and yet compelling. The scope of the story arc is prodigious and rewards anyone who can get to watch it all.

Quirky, original, black humour. Good cast - 3 dimensional characters. Loved Disc 1 and look forward to those which follow.
