A great series with lots of historical detail. Fantastic acting Peppered with some over the top gratuitous sex and nudity scenes. Enough eye candy for both sexes.
One word - Brilliant. One of the best series I have seen Thoroughly enjoyed every Second.
An enjoyable series, but way too over the top to deserve a higher rating. Also, the scheming of the women is given too much prominence and became tiresome. Unusually for an HBO series there is as much male as female nudity, which is a refreshing change.
An excellent series. The atmosphere and attention to historical detail for the sets, etc., is particularly notable.
Great fun. Worth the watch.
Enjoyed the first disc and curious to see how the series progresses. Shame there are not a few more likeable characters, as there are quite a few nasty ones - not to mention how often everyone gets naked! Or is that just a sign of the times! Don't know my history well enough to know how believable it is but great acting and scenery regardless.
really enjoyed first disc ... great scenery and costumes! yeah others have made reference to not being fully realistic as many did not have the typical heterosexual relationships.. that many men were gay in battle. but really what does it really matter .. its great entertaining viewing that all can enjoy! A great way to learn about roman history A in my books!
OMG. This is total rubbish. Sure there is some truth to it but most of it is just rubbish. As for the sex scenes they are not that believable and all are heterosexual sex scenes. Funny cos isn't it a fact that back then most the males were Bi??? I might be wrong but I don?t think so. This is rubbish don?t waste your time on this :)
Awesome show. Very authentic and beats all other recent attempts to portray Roman life at the time of Caeser's death. Watch it!
Although I have no idea how historically accurate this series is I enjoyed it immensely. Production values are very high and typical of HBO. I recommend it to all.
More than a historic facination it's a story of real friendship in friendless times. An ancient Odd Couple, the haphazard comical Titus offset by the uptight Lucius. Like the love these friends share the viewer is seduced by all the chatacers even the wickedly wicked Atia.
The attention to detail in this excellent historic series is second to none. Apart from the bloodlust and sex this series should be on the school history curriculum. HBO and BBC are the only organizations macking anything of worth latley. 5 stars
Rome is incredible TV. I saw both series' in the US on HBO, and loved it, every moment. Hopefully quickflix will get the 2nd series as just having series 1 is nice but incomplete.
Saw both series' in the US on HBO: before the first screening of the 2nd series, they re-played all of series 1 squished into 2 weeks.
Both series' are stunning. and from the first episode, it just gets better and better. Surperb TV, do not miss this.
Absolutely fantastic! Can't wait for the rest of the series.
Great series Excellent production
Interesting take on history of Rome. Somehow, for the first three episodes, none of the characters seems to be likable. If some were, my rating would be higher.
Picked this up on the recommendation of a few friends and judging by the first disk, it has been well worth it. I'm expecting something similar to HBO's other fantastic historical drama, Deadwood - a story that starts with a bang but declines somewhat as the series progresses.
Nonetheless, Deadwood is still pretty good and I hope the next few disks of Rome will be too.
it's a great series and can't wait to see the rest of the episodes
