Wow, so glad I finally get to see this series. Was going to watch it when it first came on TV, but for whatever reason, never got to do so. So glad I can see 4 eps all at once here. Loved it, loved it!! Can't wait for the next lot.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. It's not bad, but it's not that great either. It leans far too heavily on the novelties of 1950s technology, clothes, hair, decor, affectations, and oh wow! People smoking indoors and near children! Not to mention gauche representations of gender, class, race, sexuality. I also found the insider jokes with the more knowledgable audience of the future too smug and with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. It's basically a soap opera, isn't it?

this was well done and I can understand why people love it - but I found the treatment of women, although probably accurate, too painful to watch. Didn't finish the series, hated all the misogynist men and the non stop smoking.

HBO does it again....Great period piece, with excellent acting and a compelling story line. I can't wait for the next episodes!

Wall Street and Glengarry Glenross had a tv baby and it is Mad Men. Don't hesitate. 6/5 stars.

Enjoyed the story; enough elements to make it absorbing and have us interested in the characters and their progress through the story. We have ordered the following 2 discs.

Quirky but a little like watching paint dry. Good attention to visual detail. Needs a little spice, a touch of sugar and a little extra heat before it is really digestible, unless you are on a tube feed of course.

A victory of style over substance and just plain boring. Once you're over the novelty of everyone smoking all the time, the attitudes, cultural values and iconography of a bygone era; you're left with a rather drab soap opera full of unlikable and self-absorbed men and equally unlikable and insecure women.

Well produced and directed. Captures the early sixties corrrectly. It was real cool to smoke, and smoke all the time, particularly unfiltered Lucky Strikes. And the pill was just coming in, to give things a little spice.

I have enjoyed what I have seen of this series so far although I was expecting it to be much better due to all the hype and award nominations. I think men would prefer this show to women. Still definitely worth watching.

The series was fantastic - a true depiction of the period.

One of the best TV drama series out there! Madman also gives you a great insight to how people seemingly lived in a parallel universe back then. I did feel a little guilty for being a man after watching this show for a few hours lol Bring back the day when you could drink and smoke at the office!!!

Can't get into this show, find it quite boring and uninteresting despite the rave reviews.

I think this is really well done- and is interesting as a historical representation. However, i find it a bit sad- and i don't like any of the characters... going to give disc 2 a go before i give up on this series

I can't explain why I'm hooked on this series, but I am! Brilliant cast and fascinating portrayal of an era so different (and yet so that same)...

Mad Men is a great show. So great that Quickflix tells me that if I like it I may also like Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2. Joe Pesci sure is funny in Leathal Weapon 2. I love that bit where Murtough and Riggs threaten to shoot him through the door so he can inspect the bullet,. CLASSIC. Mad Men is similar in this to many ways, such as they also have doors in Mad Men, but no one threatens to shoot anyone through them so perhaps Mad Men is not so good as leathal weapon. In any event Mad Men is just as good if not better than Lethal Weapon 2 and almost but not quite as good as Lethal Weapon.

Unbelievably overlooked by HBO, this series belongs amongst their high quality stable mates; The Sopranos, Six Feet Under and Deadwood. A better 1960's period americana drama you will not find. 5 stars is an understatement.
