Enjoyed series 1 but found the mixture of accents a bit off putting. Some sound more olde world while others sound far to modern - they need a bit more consistency.

The difficulty with any book translated to film is what to leave out. The Legend of the Seeker is no different. Its cinematography is exceptionally good, having NZ as a backdrop, but its story is patchy and only in parts does it follow the book. What is grating are the performances but especially the accents (all sorts of accents in fact but mainly American): the performances are as patchy as is the script and as inconsistent as the accents. Its production values it run a very poor second to the DVD series of 'Merlin' for example, which is clearly aimed at a particular demographic. The Legend of the Seeker straddles, and not well, a teenage audience and AO! Some dialogue from Jed (Bruce Spence) is definitely AO. However, because I enjoyed the book(s) i will persist with the rest of the series and hope that writers will realise that they do not have to embellish what is already written.
