Forty, footloose and fancy free, Henry Willows’ life as a carefree divorcee comes to a grinding halt when his eldest son turns up on the doorstep. Like father, like son, the pair are far more similar than either would give credit for, and their domestic disharmony leads to comic situations that not even two cleaners can sweep under the carpet! Domestic bliss will never be the same as the generation gap is brought firmly home.

Disc 2 contains the 1987 Christmas special, Family Ties. Henry is planning an intimate Yuletide break for two with his girlfriend Cynthia at a posh hotel. But then all of his three offspring land on the doorstep expecting Christmas to be a real family affair.
