As World War II rages over Europe, Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle fights his own battle against murder, mystery and betrayal on the south coast of England. Although the beautiful countryside seems far from the glory of The Front, Foyle's battle is an ordinary struggle against everyday evil in extraordinarily dangerous times. Set against the background of real events, the second series sees Foyle and his team investigating a looting racket which ends in murder, an illicit trade in fuel, a shooting during Home Guard manouvres, and a secret wartime hideaway. Foyle's loyalties are put to the test as his enquiries uncover unpleasant truths that powerful people would rather keep hidden.
