500 years in the future there's a whole new frontier, and a crew of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.

Not my cup of tea. The acting isn't always up to the mark.

ugh. I managed to work my way through all three episodes just to see if they would get better with practice, but now have accepted the inevitable. Must find the friend who recommended this and ask for my 3 hours back.

This is classic Joss Whedon. The characters are ridiculous but very engaging and the action is lots of fun. There is plenty of snappy dialogue, too. The only problem is that you know they only ever made one season, so it's a little bit hard to engage. And I saw the movie, "Serenity", first, which spoils it a bit.

Great! The wild west in deep space that doesn't take itself too seriously. I saw the movie Serenity first and loved it but will have to watch it again now that I know more of the back story.

It's not the best or worst I've seen. It's entertaining in a mindless way.

A sci-fi western? Not a very original idea perhaps but it works here. This is a fine series that has engaging characters and genuinely witty dialogue.

Absolutely the BEST show ever made. The fact that it was cancelled just shows how stupid the studio is. The actors are fantastic, the dialogue is witty, everything about this show just clicks so well.

No 1. out of all the thousands of DVD's. the stories just seem to suck you in more than any other thing i've ever seen. the people are actually believable. brilliant. if you want to leave the lounge room, this will do it for you.

If you like Sci-fi and you like Westerns, this is a perfect blend of the two genres. Enough drama, enough action and enough comedy to make it a well-rounded series. Wish they'd make more!

Good escapist fun. This is a show that doesn't take itself too seriously and is a bit "tongue in cheek" at times. I never thought a sci-fi with western overtones could work, but it does. Can't figure out the connection with the movie Serenity as the same 2 characters appear as new characters in both???

Firefly has been absolutely rivetting viewing. It's an entirely believable take on an interplanetary lifestyle in the not-so-distant future. Joss Wheadon has succeeded in creating a cast of characters who are unique and endeering, even with their very human collection of flaws. It's a shame Firefly got canned after its first season. This series will no doubt achieve cult status in much the same way Futurama did after it was canned.

Fantastic series with witty, intelligent dialogue and storylines. Brilliant acting by the whole cast. Why would fox let something this great go? Well worth watching.

SciFi with a different twist. Really good characters that aren't just caricatures and some interesting scripts to go along. Not the best of this genre, but if you like Science Fiction, you'll probably enjoy this.

If you can just expand your mind a little from ther typical science fiction of Startrek etc, then this is a great change. It deals with human action and stories on a much smaller and personalised scale than is typical of most future drama. I really thought it was great

This contains 3 episodes, the first of which is a double episode that sort of starts off the series. I say sort of because it is quite confusing and leaves you to figure a lot out yourself. In the states Fox didn't air this episode first ( it aired it last) because it thought another episode was more entertaining. Of course this made it even more confusing to the viewers and the series was pulled after 9 episodes. I got into it after seeing a few episodes but still think that a western theme for a Sci Fi series is stretching it a bit. No aliens here, they all look human and talk English. Everyplanet looks like Earth and every city looks like a set out of an old western.

This is the first three episodes of a new series from Joss Whedon who brought us that cult favourite Buffy the vampire slayer. It follows the adventures of a spaceship crew usually operating a little outside the law. Its more like a western set in space really. Complete with gunfights and train robbing. The crew are an interesting mix including some verterans on the loosing side of a war, a spaced out female ships mechanic, a high class prostitute, and a preacher with obviously an unrevealed past. Not bad overall but doesn't quite capture the quirky humor that made Buffy such a hit.
