Strong coarse language and sexual references

Actors: Matt LeBlanc, Tasmin Greig, Stephen Mangan, John Pankow

British writer-producers Beverly and Sean Lincoln (Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan), have a wonderful marriage and a hit TV series to their credit. Things couldn't be better. Until Merc Lapidus (John Pankow), a Hollywood network executive, gushes over their series at a gala. Merc is certain that a remake of the show will go over well with an American audience. After making the Lincolns a lucrative offer, they pack up and ship out to the States. It doesn't take long for them to figure out that Hollywood is a place where deals are made and broken in the same breath. They soon find themselves holding on tight as creative control of their show starts to slip away from their hands.

Builds slowly to become completely absorbing and funny and gripping. It's not full of jokes, which is why some people might not see the humour, but I personally think that humour which is based on the interplay between characters is much funnier. The characters are all well-rounded; there is much, much more to this series than a few superficial guffaws. It is brilliantly written and superbly acted.

I thought Friends was incredibly bland and over-rated so I was going to skip Episodes because so much of the plot was about Matt le Blanc. Then I read the reviews (The Times - 'The must-see comedy of the year') and realised that Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan (Green Wing) were in it. I agree with the reviewer below who said it was slow to start, but once you get past the third episode you will be hooked. By the second series I was watching it back-to-back. Very, very clever send-up of the Hollywood TV industry by two writers who obviously know it so well. I came out of it loving Matt le Blanc. The scene where he throws his own celebrity cologne at the wall is extremely funny.

Of the two reviews below, I am siding with the single star. This is not a funny sitcom and just gets more irritating as you get closer to the end which doesn't come soon enough.

Only made it through one and a half episodes then turned it off. We didn't even chuckle, not a single laugh. Neither British nor American humour. Maybe perseverence would pay off like the last reviewer said.
