From the producer & writer of Million Dollar Baby and Crash (Paul Haggis) comes the quirky story of a Canadian mountie, Benton Frasier (Paul Gross), who heads to Chicago on the trail of his fathers killer and ends up on the streets fighting crime with his partner Detective Ray Vecchio (David Marciano). Like all great pairings the two complement each other; where Fraser is slow and patient, Ray is quick to question and easily irritated. Together they deliver a laugh a minute as the two, armed only with a deaf, lip-reading K-9 and their traditional moral code of conduct, rid the streets of crime.

it says 'laugh a minute' but i watched the pilot and half an episode, it aint got a 'laugh in it' to that stage.

Disk 1 is the worst component of an otherwise first rate series; tough this one out to get a better grip on the better episodes that follow, it is worth the effort. If you are wondering where you know the sidekick from, he plays effectively same role 15 years later (and for that matter 20 years earlier) in the US version of Life on Mars.

This is surprisingly watchable, with quirky characters and a fast pace. Paul Gross is brilliant as Constable Fraser, and David Marciano excellent as Detective Vecchio. Kind of like a more interesting, better acted, Canadian/American version of Inspector Rex.

Funny premise, cute show. There's probably a limit to how many car/foot/horse chases you want to watch but it's decent light entertainment.
