Accustomed to an extravagant and extremely affluent lifestyle, the family struggles to deal with the fact that their father (Jeffrey Tambor) and head of the family business, has been imprisoned for shifty accounting practises and hes loving every minute of it! Even worse, the familys assets are frozen, and it seems that they may actually have to go out and earn their keep! The only one who understands the seriousness of their predicament is Michael (Jason Bateman), who realises its up to him to guide his eccentric family into this new chapter of their lives.

Brilliant comedy on many levels. I found for the first few minutes I would want to leave the room because it's funny in a way that makes you cringe and wonder about the human race. But after ten minutes I'd get past the pain barrier and just laugh myself silly for the rest of the disc.

Hilarious stuff. Very under-rated in Australia and United states (aka ratings). A must watch. Some of the script will leave you in tears.

it is sucha shame that Ch 7 plays this on at a ridiculaously late time on a weekday! It is not getting the audience it deserves. This is such a gem of a show. very clever and quirky. Reminds me of The Wonder Years.

Creativley written - perfectly cast - such a funny series - it is a pity free to air tv didn't give it a chance by showing it in a better time slot (11.00pm is much too late for a great show like this!) watch the special bits as the cast explain some of the humour that you can sometimes miss. It is so cleverly written - i cannot wait to see Season 2 and 3. Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi and Jessica Walter are absolutley brilliant in this show - a must see!!
