Screenwriter Hudson Milbank (Matthew Perry) has acute depersonalisation disorder, a neurotic condition that makes him feel disconnected from other people, the world, and even his own body. So alienated from life that he makes the chronically depressed look perky, he watched the Golf Channel all day, has trouble holding on to a relationship, shoplifts in order to get his adrenaline up, loathes his mother, and in general, is as nutty as a crap shack in a peanut farm. Hudson is a man in hell, but things start to change when he meets Sara (Lynn Collins), a free spirited girl who is almost as nutty as he is. She gives him a new lease on life and he puts himself through every therapy in the book...
